TOUR INFORMATION
In 1984, the EGGER Group purchased the Hexham site as its first plant outside Austria and the fourth plant in the Group.
It is now the largest manufacturing company in Northumberland with over 600 employees.On the tour you will see the journey the raw materials take to become finished products at one of Europe’s most technologically advanced chipboard plants.
The tour is a running commentary provided through headsets.
Length of visit: The tour lasts approx. 1 to 1.5 hours.
Distance: We follow the route of the raw materials through to the finished board. The tour is mainly walking – approx. distance 1.5 miles.
Clothing: Hi-Vis jackets are provided. Please wear flat, sensible, sturdy, non-slip and enclosed toed shoes or boots.
Terrain: The majority of the tour is on the same level. However there are 9 flights of metal stairs on the tour, which the group will have to use.
Additional information: There are powerful magnets throughout the processes, we cannot allow anyone with a pacemaker on a factory tour.
